The Way to Heaven

Walk the Narrow Road

Jesus told us in his Sermon on the Mount. “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)

This gives us a more detailed explanation of what it means to believe and to receive eternal life.

True faith in Christ is not merely agreeing that Jesus is God’s Son and Savior of all mankind. For as Jesus said, “You do well to assert that. But even the demons believe and tremble.” (John 2:19)

Real Christians bear “fruit.” – Jesus said, “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; for apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5)

And the fruit that Christians bear is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23)

True followers of Jesus Christ are “the light of the world. We are “To our light shine before others, that they may see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

Jesus warns us to keep our light shining in his parable about the “Ten Virgins.” –  He describes those believers who He will select to live with Him forever, and those who are “foolish” and will not.

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. (Jesus is our bridegroom who will come and take us to heaven.) Five of the virgins were foolish and five were wise. The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them. The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. — “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!” – But the foolish had allowed their lamps to run out of oil and go dark. Whereas, the wise virgins, with their brightly burning lamps, quickly entered into his kingdom.

Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’ — “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour of my coming.” (Matthew 25:1-13)

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, we are not to live as non-believers do. We are to “Walk by the Spirit and not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)

Stay on the ‘Straight Path.’ Enter in the ‘Narrow Gate.’ For as Jesus instructs us, “Be in the world, but not of the world.” (John 17:14-16)

Jesus is coming soon! Therefore…

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.” (Mark 12:30)
