A Dream of the Future

No sleep

In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, had a dream that troubled his mind and he could not sleep.

Not one of the king’s wise men could tell him what he dreamed, nor its interpretation, except Daniel, who had been taken from Jerusalem when it was conquered.

He told the king, “The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future.

“Your Majesty saw a large statue. The head of the statue was made of pure gold (the Babylonian empire), its chest and arms of silver (the Medo-Persian empire), its belly and thighs of bronze tThe Greek empire), and its legs of iron, (the Romam empire)

And finally, its feet, made partly of iron and partly of baked clay (the European Union.)

“After those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but his kingdom will itself endure forever.
