Proof of True Faith

cover

In the very beginning, God blessed Adam and Eve and told them to “Go forth and be fruitful.” Genesis 1:2

And Jesus also encourages all who claim to believe in him to bear fruit too. — “And the Fruit of God’s Spirit is love, joy, peace, forgiveness, kindness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23

He also teaches us that we cannot do this by ourselves. And he gives the example of a fruit tree:

“Abide in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:4-8

No tree can bear fruit unless it is planted in good soil, and that is the knowledge of God’s word. Therefore, we must read the Bible and continue to do so.

“As for what was sown in good soil, this is the one who hears my words and understands them. He indeed bears fruit.” Mathew 13:22-23

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.” Colossians 1:10

“For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, for each tree is known by its own fruit.” Luke 6:43-44

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad, for the tree is known by its fruit.” Matthew 12:33-34

Finally, this is the ultimate command of Christ and proof of a true faith in Christ:

“Love each other as I have loved you. You are my friends if you do what I command. You did not choose me, but I chose you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Therefore, this is my command: Love each other.” John 15: 12-17

So stay close to Jesus, listen to his teachings, and walk in them.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” John 7:13-14Dear brothers and sisters, “Be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:11
