“A farmer had a son who asked his father to give him his share of the estate.’ So, he gave him half his wealth.
The son set off for a distant country and squandered his wealth in wild living.
Then when a severe famine came, he found a job feeding pigs.
He was so hungry he longed to eat the pigs’ food.
Soon, he said to himself, ‘All my father’s servants have food, but here I am starving to death!
I will go back to my father and say, “I have sinned. I am no longer worthy to be called your son; please make me one of your hired servants.’
And so, he came back home. And his father saw him and was filled with compassion and threw his arms around his son and kissed him.
He shouted to his servants, Kill the fatted calf. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is now found.’
So, return to the Lord who loves you.
