Jesus told this parable: “A farmer went out to sow his seed.
Some fell along the path and the birds ate it up. – These are those who hear the words of Jesus, but the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they do not believe and are not saved.
Some fell on rocky ground, and the plants withered because they had no moisture. — These are those who receive Christ’s words with joy. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.
Other seeds fell among thorns, and it choked the plants. These are those who are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not grow in the Lord.
But other seeds fell on good soil and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” These are people with good hearts, who believe and hold on to the words of Christ. They persevere through life’s trials and hardships and produce the fruits of God’s Spirit within them.
